Liberty Place Field Guide

A real-world guide to creating Veteran-focused housing through partnerships.

Liberty Place is Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation’s 32-unit housing community developed specifically for Veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The Liberty Place Field Guide shares the story behind the development and, more importantly, the practical lessons learned along the way.

Created as a resource for housing authorities, local governments, Veteran-serving organizations and community partners, the guide explores the development process, partnerships, financing, design decisions, furnishing and move-in strategies, lessons learned, ongoing community support, and resources for operating Veteran-focused housing.

Our goal is simple: share what we learned so other communities don’t have to start from scratch.
