KCDC board elects officers, adds Harris

Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) has elected 2022-23 officers for its Board of Commissioners and added a new member.

Felix Harris

Felix Harris, vice president of housing and community development for the Knoxville Area Urban League, has joined the board as an appointee of Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon for a five-year term. He is a HUD Certified Housing Counselor.

Bob Whetsel

Bob Whetsel, retired City of Knoxville director of redevelopment, will continue to serve as chair. He was appointed to the board in 2016 for a five-year term and is serving another term.

Kimberly Henry

Kimberly Henry, director of operations for Jim LaPinska’s team at Northwestern Mutual, remains vice chair of the board. She was appointed to the board in 2018 for a five-year term.

Scott Broyles

Scott Broyles, president and CEO at National Safe Skies Alliance, will serve as treasurer. He was appointed to the board in 2021 for a five-year term.

Ben Bentley

KCDC Executive Director and CEO Ben Bentley serves as secretary.

The other KCDC board members are Rosalind Hall, KCDC resident commissioner and community advocate; Robyn McAdoo, a senior project manager at Partners Development; and John Winemiller, managing partner of intellectual property law firm Merchant & Gould’s Knoxville office.

Seven members of KCDC’s Board of Commissioners are appointed by the Knoxville mayor to oversee programs provided by the agency, including affordable housing administration and redevelopment. Board officers are elected for one-year terms.
