Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon has appointed Scott Broyles to the Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) Board of Commissioners for a five-year term.

“We welcome Scott to the board,” KCDC Executive Director and CEO Ben Bentley said. “He has nearly four decades of experience in the government, corporate and non-profit sectors with the ability to identify practical solutions around important issues. Scott will be an asset to the Board of Commissioners.”
Broyles is president and CEO at National Safe Skies Alliance, an Alcoa-based nonprofit that works with airports, government and industry to maintain a safe and effective aviation security system. He graduated from the University of Memphis in 1995 with a degree in aviation management and earned a Master of Arts in leadership and public service from Lipscomb University in 2013.
He is a graduate of Leadership Tennessee (2016), Leadership Knoxville (2011) and Leadership Blount (2009). His community involvement and board service include University of Tennessee Chancellor’s Associates, Knox Education Foundation, Connect Knox and Innovation Valley Inc.’s Diversity Champions Resource Group.
“Scott brings an abundance of experience to the board across multiple sectors and has taken leadership roles in the community,” said Bob Whetsel, chair of KCDC’s Board of Commissioners. “We welcome him to the board, and we also want to thank Bruce Anderson, who has reached the end of his term, for his service.”
Anderson, the retired vice president for legal services and general counsel at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, concluded a five-year term on Dec. 31.
KCDC’s Board of Commissioners are appointed by the Knoxville mayor to oversee the agency’s programs, including affordable housing administration, rental assistance programs and redevelopment.
Current members include Whetsel, retired City of Knoxville director of redevelopment and board chair; Kimberly Henry, financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual and board vice chair; Robyn McAdoo, licensed architect at Dollar & Ewers Architecture and board treasurer; Rosalind Hall, Lonsdale Homes resident and resident commissioner; Kanika White, Realtor and executive director of Knoxville Equity Partners; and John Winemiller, managing partner of intellectual property law firm Merchant & Gould’s Knoxville office. Bentley, KCDC executive director and CEO, serves as board secretary.
