The Manor at Northgate Terrace
The only program of its kind in the state, The Manor meets a critical need in Knox County to offer independent living to seniors experiencing issues with the aging process. The Manor is not a nursing home or assisted living facility, but can offer supportive services to help seniors retain independence and maintain their safety. For more information and to apply for the program, please contact Teresa Lawson at 403-1410.
The Manor is an HUD-subsidized property, and residents are charged rent based on income. In addition, a flat monthly fee of $515 allows the Manor to provide supportive services, including meals delivered daily to individual apartments, daily resident safety checks, specialized case management, emergency call pendants, laundry service, housekeeping and social activities.

The Manor’s services allow low-income seniors to remain healthy and independent when the median cost of an assisted living facility is $3,500 per month.
This essential program, however, operates at a greater deficit each year as costs increase. The income of senior residents does not rise proportionately with the costs of the program. Raising rent would make the program unaffordable.
