Holidays come early to Love Towers residents

Residents of Guy B. Love Towers enjoyed games, entertainment and treats during its fourth annual Christmas Bingo Blitz Social at Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation-managed high-rise property on Saturday, Dec. 16.

“For some in our community, this will be the only holiday celebration that they attend,” KCDC senior asset manager Steve Ellis said. “We believe it’s important to show residents how much we appreciate them.”

About 70 people – Love Towers residents and their family and friends – played bingo, enjoyed fellowship and sang holiday carols along with entertainer “Appalachian Anna” Uptain.

“This is one of my favorite events of the year,” special events team member Rita Schwartz said. “I particularly like that it involves the outside community.”

Volunteers from the Old North Knoxville Neighborhood Association helped organize and run the event, Magpies Bakery provided sweet treats, and an anonymous donor made possible the more than 70 prizes available during bingo.
