KCDC's Community Involvement Committee
The Community Involvement Committee (CIC), is an employee run volunteer committee that serves and represents Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) housing residents and their community neighborhoods, through National and Local organizations and activities that benefit and favorably impact the people of Knoxville, Tennessee.

The Community Involvement Committee is always interested in taking on new projects. If you know of an activity or project either at your work site or in the community that KCDC may want to be involved with, please contact Cindy Akins with the specifics so that she can take your idea before the committee.

Mission Statement
To create a positive working relationship between KCDC employees,
residents and the community by:
  • Involvement in community events
  • Improving community-wide relationships with other agencies

  • February - American Heart Association “Wear Red Day”
  • February - Cystic Fibrosis Foundation “Valentines Day Red Rose Campaign”
  • April - Knoxville Opera “Rossini Festival”
  • June - The East TN Community Design Center “500 Block of Gay Street”
  • August - Volunteer Ministry Center “5K Run & Fun Walk”
  • August - Mechanicsville “Mechanicsville Homecoming”
  • October - Susan G. Komen Race Foundation “Race for the Cure”
  • November - KCDC “Thanksgiving Baskets”
  • Advancing development initiatives
  • Fostering self-sufficiency
Recent Events
500 Block of Gay Street 2008 - The sixth annual tour and fundraiser for the 500 Block of Gay Street 2008 was presented by The East Tennessee Community Design Center on Thursday, June 19th, 2008.
