Montina Jones Joins KCDC Board; Hutchins Serves Another Term

Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC) recently announced changes to its board of commissioners. Montina Jones, senior advisor for high needs schools with the Knox County school system, has been appointed by Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam to finish the term of outgoing board member Fr. Ragan Schriver. Schriver, executive director of Catholic Charities of East Tennessee, has recently been named pastor at Holy Family Catholic Church in Seymour, Tenn., and could not continue to serve on the KCDC board.

A graduate of Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina, Jones earned her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Tennessee. She also graduated from Lincoln Memorial University’s educational specialist degree program in administration and supervision.

Jones began her career with Knox County Schools in 1985 as a teacher at Beardsley Middle School and has served as assistant principal for both South Doyle Middle School and Austin-East High School and as principal of Vine Middle Performing Arts and Sciences Magnet School. Jones serves on Knoxville Utilities Board’s Tree Trim Policy Review Panel, is the Knox County Schools superintendent’s representative on the Community Action Committee (CAC) board of directors, and is a member of the Project GRAD Knoxville board of directors. She and her husband, Rev. Dr. Vincent M. Jones Sr., have two grown children, Jacqueline of Knoxville and Vincent Jr. of Atlanta, and three grandchildren.

David Hutchins, currently serving as treasurer of the board of commissioners, has been reappointed by Mayor Haslam for another five-year term. Hutchins is a Knoxville native and graduate of Central High School and the University of Tennessee. He is an architect and president of his own architectural firm, Hutchins Associates PC.

The board of commissioners provides oversight of KCDC's programs, including affordable public housing administration and rental assistance programs for qualifying citizens. Other members of the board are chairwoman Juanita Cannon, who is retired from Knox County Schools; vice chairman Culver Schmid, an attorney with Long, Ragsdale & Waters PC; Craig Griffith, public relations manager for Mercy Health Partners; Ellen Adcock, community volunteer and former director of the City of Knoxville Department of Administration; and resident board member Norman Watkins.

KCDC is the housing authority and redevelopment agency for Knoxville. Since 1936, KCDC has been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Knoxville. For more information, visit http://www.kcdc.org.
