Many expectant parents spend countless hours poring over books with baby names to choose the perfect name for their child. I know my wife and I put a lot of thought into naming our children. According to the doctor our second child was going to be a girl, so we only selected girl names. I guess it’s a good thing we didn’t give A.J. one of those names.
Recently, residents of Christenberry Heights spent time selecting a name – not for the birth of a child but for a “birth” of a different sort - their extensively renovated neighborhood.
A couple of weeks ago we held a grand opening ceremony to celebrate the reopening and to unveil the neighborhood’s new name: North Ridge Crossing.
The name was selected by vote of the residents, and we think they chose well.
We’ve installed new signs at the entrance and on the main office building that boast the new name and feature a blooming dogwood blossom in the ‘o’ of Crossing. Beautiful dogwood trees scatter the neighborhood and surrounding community.
The renovation of Christenberry Heights into North Ridge Crossing is a major milestone for the North Knoxville community and for public housing in Knoxville. As with Mechanicsville Commons, Lonsdale Homes and other revitalized properties, North Ridge Crossing offers quality, affordable housing to working families, seniors, disabled adults and full-time students.
