This year’s United Way campaign, already well underway, includes a lot of new opportunities to get involved and support the cause.

There was a memorable launch on Sept. 11; an exciting and successful telethon on Sept. 21; an online auction through Oct. 16; and from Oct. 12 through Nov. 6, they’re conducting a “Change for Change” campaign that will include collection spots for spare change throughout town. If you’ve ever collected change at home, you know how quickly it can add up.

KCDC is a proud supporter of the United Way. One way we offer our support is by donating proceeds of our annual Chili Cook-off, which is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30.

The cook-off is always a lot of fun. In addition to vying for the honor of cooking up the best pot of chili, teams prepare themed booths and dress in costumes to match the theme. It’s a great time of teambuilding and a good way to raise money for a good cause.

In today’s economic climate, more people than ever need help, and supporting United Way is an excellent way to provide that help. With giving opportunities available at all levels, there’s a way for people of all walks of life to lend a helping hand.
