When I recently attended the Resident Association Meeting for our Isabella Towers property, I was really encouraged to see so much positive energy.
Our residents are enthusiastically working together to build their community. Members of our Isabella Towers resident association – president Robert White, vice president Jackie Campbell, treasurer Sue French, secretary Hazel Hall and assistant secretary Brenda Cox – head up the efforts.
They took it upon themselves to apply for financial support from the Neighborhoods Small Grants Program, and received a $2,400 grant for their efforts. To supplement the grant money, they also organized a yard sale that drew much resident involvement and cleared nearly $400.
They’ll be using the money for landscaping, a display case for the common area and a resident newspaper.
Landscaping in the courtyard is already underway. They even plan to plant tulips in the shape of a large “I” for Isabella Towers.
The newspaper will include housing information, Isabella Tower news and resident-generated materials like poems, short stories and recipes.
The display case will showcase residents’ artwork, crafts, awards and honors, and will provide space to honor residents who are veterans and served in the military.
My hat is off to everyone at Isabella Towers, particularly president Robert White, a man that neighbors praise as being an excellent leader.
