The Manor, located on the second and third floors at Northgate Terrace, 4301 Whittle Spring Road, is an independent living center operated by KCDC. It provides a private apartment setting for individuals 60 years or older experiencing problems associated with the aging process.

The Manor provides weekly light housekeeping, laundry service, individual case management and breakfast and evening meals to residents. It’s a place where senior adults can live independently while enjoying supportive services at a reasonable cost.

Thanks to Joslyn Gillespie, owner of Just Help Catering and Culinary Arts Instructor at Austin East High School, the evening meals have recently reached a whole new level. Gillespie and her staff now prepare home-style meals fresh onsite.

Nightly menus include some old favorites like baked chicken with buttered rice and broccoli; Swiss steak with sweet peas and carrots; sliced ham and pinto beans with cornbread; and baked fish with hushpuppies. On Monday nights, residents enjoy pasta night.

On Sundays, Ms. Gillespie treats residents to dishes like chicken and dumplings, fried chicken and turkey and dressing. And, I hear that her desserts are so delicious you’d never guess they’re mostly low-fat and sugar free.

If you think the Manor with all of its home cooking sounds like the place for you or your loved one, call us at 865-403-1410 to find out more.
