Dog Days of Summer

Having just celebrated the Fourth of July holiday, we are officially entering the “dog days of summer.”
Speaking of dogs, our friends at Young-Williams Animal Center report that they’re bursting at the seams with dogs - and cats and other pets - waiting for adoption. The center can hold about 450 animals, and right now it’s at full capacity.
So, if you’ve been thinking of adding a new pet to your household, now is the perfect time to stop by Young-Williams Animal Center on Sutherland Avenue and find your furry friend.
To make the offer more enticing, now through August Young-Williams is holding a Furry Fiesta with reduced adoption rates for adult dogs and cats. During this promotion, the adoption rate for dogs and cats age six months to six years is reduced from $120 to $75; the rate is $50 for dogs and cats age seven and above.
I also want to take this opportunity to encourage pet owners to have your pets spayed or neutered. It’s the best way to reduce unwanted animals.
