At KCDC, we have some amazing employees with the kind of volunteer spirit that makes a boss proud.
One of those employees is Eric Bellamy, a Halls resident and member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church. This summer, Eric, his wife and teenage daughter will be joining a team of more than 30 people on a medical mission trip to Managua, Nicaragua.
This marks Eric’s fourth mission trip and his third time visiting Nicaragua. On the mission trips, a medical team that includes nurses and doctors gives much needed medical care.
Eric and others who are not medically trained spend time with the locals, leading Vacation Bible Schools and crusades, and showing the people some much-needed love and kindness.
Eric is also a member of KCDC’s Community Involvement Committee, which was established to identify volunteer opportunities for our employees. We have approximately 15 employees who volunteer at various nonprofit organizations and have provided more than 300 hours of service since last October.
In the words of Winston Churchill, “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.”
I am proud of Eric and his family for their service and also of our many employees who give of themselves daily to make life better for others.
KCDC’s mission is to improve and transform neighborhoods and communities by providing quality affordable housing, advancing development initiatives and fostering self-sufficiency. For more information, call (865) 403-1100 or visit http://www.kcdc.org.
