It’s hard to believe that this year’s Dogwood Arts Festival is already coming to a close. I hope you have enjoyed the trails, gardens, art exhibits and festivities.
The evening of April 24 offers a chance for the community to visit downtown Knoxville and bid a fond farewell to another successful festival.
At 7 p.m.: The Dogwood Arts Parade, complete with marching bands, decorated floats, giant helium balloons and performing arts groups travels down Gay Street. Mary Costa is Parade Grand Marshall.
At 8 p.m.: The inaugural Covenant Health Dogwood Mile invites runners of all ages and competition levels to answer the question, “How fast can you run a mile?”
Runners will start the race at the intersection of Gay Street and Summit Hill and finish in Market Square.
The Dogwood Mile is open to everyone age 7 and up and is a USA Track & Field sanctioned event. To preregister or find out more about start times and competition rules, visit http://www.racedayevents.net/Dogwood_Mile.html.
As soon as the first runner crosses the finish line: Party on the Square begins with live music, refreshments and food and beverage vendors until 11 p.m.
Plan to join us for a celebration to be remembered!
