Weathering the Financial Storm

As head of KCDC, I hear from a lot of folks who are concerned about surviving these trying economic times. I believe we will all do well to remember that it isn’t so much about employing groundbreaking new strategies, but practicing tried and true principles, like these:
Repair instead of replace. Keep those leather shoes that lost their luster out of the landfill and on your feet by taking them by a local shoe repair shop. This same strategy can be applied to big ticket items like cars and electronics. It not only saves money but also helps the environment.

As head of KCDC, I hear from a lot of folks who are concerned about surviving these trying economic times. I believe we will all do well to remember that it isn’t so much about employing groundbreaking new strategies, but practicing tried and true principles, like these:

Watch your health. Exercise, eat right, get enough sleep. If you smoke – stop; if you’re carrying too much weight – lose it. Staying healthy saves you time and money by keeping you at work and out of the doctor’s office, not to mention avoiding the expense of prescription medications.
Brown bag it. If you’re planning to eat in your office, cut your lunch expense dramatically by bringing something from home. You’ll also be more likely to eat healthier that way.
Obviously, these are just a few of the ways to cut back. Find other ways to save by simply paying attention to what you do each day and looking for better, less expensive options to accomplish your goals.
