Fit and Trim

At KCDC, we’re working to have a work environment that includes being active and healthy. Studies have shown that company health plans reduce absenteeism due to sickness and increase productivity. Our employees have embraced that mission, and the results are starting to show. They’re trimming down and have a new bounce to their step. They’re even keeping track of those steps.

Through our walk-a-thon program, employees keep track of how many miles they walk and how many steps they take. One employee has logged 3,088 miles and 6.1 million steps so far. An impressive record!

Speaking of records, a certain head of KCDC had a record at Maryville College for the past 29 seasons. That record of 2,502 career rushing yards recently fell to Rommel Hightower, who finished the 2008 season with a total of 2,592 rushing yards. Congratulations, Rommel!

As the holidays approach, it’s tough to maintain healthy eating habits and exercise routines. So, we’re holding a Holiday Weight Challenge from Nov. 21 through Jan. 6. The employee who loses the most weight during that time wins $200. Not a bad payoff for passing up a few glasses of eggnog and pieces of pie.

Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season.
