Celebrate the Season
December 17, 2009
Knoxville is alive with holiday spirit. As I am out and about in the community, my spirits are lifted by the sights and sounds of the season.
Driving at night is a feast for the eyes thanks to the lighted Christmas trees that adorn the rooftops of buildings throughout the area. KCDC is proud to have trees on three of our high rise properties – Northgate Terrace, Isabella Towers and Cagle Terrace.
If you really want to get in the spirit of celebration, drive downtown one evening and spend some time on Market Square. Downtown’s lights and decorations are impressive, and the outdoor skating rink provides an excellent opportunity to burn off some calories and create memorable moments.
I also encourage you to support our local businesses as you do your holiday shopping. There are many top quality local retailers and restaurants in our area, and we want to keep them here.
This is a busy time for many of us, with extra social gatherings and lots of shopping. Make an effort to slow down and take some time to enjoy the beauty of the season and share time with those you love the most. You’ll be glad you did.
KCDC’s mission is to improve and transform neighborhoods and communities by providing quality affordable housing, advancing development initiatives and fostering self-sufficiency. For more information, call (865) 403-1100 or visit http://www.kcdc.org.
