6th Annual Shoes for School

The Knoxville Area Urban League and Enterprise Car Rental sponsored the 6th Annual Shoes for School event at Caswell Park on Saturday August 15, 2009 along with many other area businesses. The event is primarily held to help children have new shoes and to help supply the children with many of the necessities needed to go back to school as well as providing fun and excitement with a 9a.m. balloon release to kick off the festivities such as a moonwalk, free refreshments, and crafts just to mention a few. KCDC is proud to have been a part of this event by sponsoring a booth ran by employee volunteers, Michael Hodges, Nicholas Hodges, Tammy Kitts, Mary Castleberry, Ashley Ogle, Rhonda Harris, Jennifer Jamison, Ken Weaver and Tina Reed, especially during such rough economic times. We set up games in which the children participated in order to "WIN" their school supplies such as notebook paper, folders, pencils, pens, glue, and rulers. The event was a great success judging from the smiles on the faces of all the children who were helped by the event as well as their parents. A Big "THANK YOU" to all who donated school supplies to make this event a success and to Bob for delivering the boxes!!!
Wear Read Day
KCDC employees took up the challenge to support this year's Wear Red Day efforts. The purpose of Wear Red Day is to raise awareness of the fact that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of American women, and to provide facts, educational information, and tools to help women reduce their risk of heart disease. By educating our employees about the risk of heart disease, we hope to motivate them to practice a heart-healthy lifestyle. Thank you for your participation, KCDC's Community Involvement Committee
